Thomas Joshua Hicks

CHICOPEE/SPENCER – Thomas J. Hicks, 93, a native of Worcester and former resident of Spencer, passed away on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. He was born on November 26, 1919, the son of the late Leonard W. and Rhoda (Stanley) Hicks and was a self-employed contractor in the Western Massachusetts area for many years. Thomas was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Temple. He leaves his sons, Ralph Hicks and his wife Christine “Tina” of Spencer, MA and Robert Hicks and his wife Roxanne of Ludlow, MA, a daughter, Marcella Fitzgerald and her husband William of Monson, MA, a brother, John Hicks of Ludlow, 3 sisters, Maude Rousseau and Margaret Conlon, both of Agawam and Lottie Tufts of Springfield, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Thomas was predeceased by a son, Joshua Hicks, a grandson, Gerard Hicks, 2 brothers, James and Leonard Hicks and a sister, Rose Hicks. The family would like to thank the staff of the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center for the care and compassion extended to Thomas during his stay there. The calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with the Funeral Mass being offered at 10 a.m. by Holy Name Parish in the former Assumption Church, 94 Springfield St., Chicopee. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Chicopee. Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA, 02215.
